In the past, Long Eaton has participated in Tidy Britain Group’s "Britain in Bloom" competition. The town has three times been a regional finalist, and has represented the East Midlands in the All-England Finals.

Long Eaton came first in the large town category of the 'East Midlands In Bloom 2001' competition which was sponsored by the Derbyshire Building Society. Judges were looking for a litter free environment, pleasing floral displays, attractive shrub and tree planting. Well cared for lawns, parks and conservation areas plus recycling and other Agenda 21 issues were included in the judging process. There were more than 60 entries from Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northampton and Rutland.
